The Rainy Season Through My Eyes

the Monsoons  has arrived sincerely in Bilaspur . i mean that it rains quite regularly in the evenings at a stretch for 2-3 hours and sometimes throughout the night. the rains have provided a welcome relief from dust, grime , unbearably hot days and nights . though its pretty sweaty here . what i like the most is going to sleep and enjoying it because it is a  lazy weather . whats more i find the atmosphere in B.Tech classes in GGU also smitten with the same malady. Professors come late to classes and do not have much mood to teach . Students also are taking it lightly in the beginning . due to the wet weather and muddy streets open air sports practices has also come to a halt . the open air swimming pool is also risky during rains what with the possibility of lightning striking the waters .

in this way we are having a relaxing time . do you know the one activity that actualy i love during this weather is sitting in our balcony and watching the rain for hours. i am fortunate that my house has a covered balcony with a fan and light connections with a sloping roof overhead and a wonderful green view of tall trees and a carpet of lush green grass growing in the patch of land in front of my house. what with  no traffic and zero noise pollution , its a luxury to have a cup of tea and snacks while watching the rain .

if to top it off reading the newspaper is real luxury in the rain . may be seasons change to provide us relief from routine work   and a tenseful life.!!!

HAPPY RAINY SEASON TO ALL OF YOU........

i am sure you all must be having  some special moments during the rainy season. why dont you share some of them with us . you can post your comments below.

FRESH START

GGU friends , the first day of college in B.Tech was kind of sleepy same as the weather. Its become pretty cool in Bilaspur these days what with frequent showers . i too got wet  in spite of carrying a raincoat , but too lazy to put it on . i am thank our college to give us such a long break to get refreshed. but after this interval and what with the holiday care free routine , i am sure you all must be dreading the coming semester thinking of the hectic schedule during sessions .

nothing happened much on the first day of college . very few students landed in the classroom though i did meet a few friends from the other branches of engineering . the professors were the last to arrive. it became an unofficial holiday that everybody welcomed especially because most of the outstation students had not arrived yet. the college is really like a body without a soul when the students had not arrived. i only realised this now. when the college was in full swing i used to consider it a  veritable circus . but the environment of circus signifies LIFE or the feeling of being alive and active. guess thats why it is said that the student days are the most memorable period of ones life.

i didnt catch the glimpse of new batch of B.Tech . overall things will start rolling from Monday onwards i am sure. the common tension among all students is the forthcoming declaration of results of previous sem . that is the only thing which might have jarred  the enjoyment of the holidays.

SO WELCOME BACK EVERYONE.

THE TRUE TEST OF DEMOCRACY

Sometimes i feel  that small town of Bilaspur must be one of the most democratic places on Earth as well as one of the most advanced in our Country.

Recently RBI (Reserve Bank Of India) put the 25 paise coin out of circulation all over INDIA. But denominations above it are yet in use in the Country . However in my town of Bilaspur you cannot get a single shopkeeper or even a villager who will accept a 50 paise coin as currency. they look on it as a measly amount not fit for any monetary exchange . Irrespective of all RBI Regulations . The funny thing is that  they are in complete knowledge of the  fact that 50 paisa is well accepted even in Metropolitan cities of INDIA. But when you go to exchange your 50 paises against currency note in a local bank , they are not willing to take it stating that it is currency that is well in use.

I bet if any of you can get somebody to accept a single 50 paise in a financial exchange in Bilaspur . See the better side of the story.
Bilaspur passes the true test of Democracy. - MAJORITY WINS.

TIPS ON HOW TO CHASE OFF BHIKARIs

I discovered this tactis quite accidently . when a person comes upto you asking you to give some money in the name of God , in return for all the well wishes he/she are making in your favour ,etc. u just tell that  guy/lady -

I desperately need a house hold servant. Please come and work in my house full time. Meals  are on the house and i will give you some cash top of it .

within seconds this beggar vanishes and even if you chase that person to convince her or him for your offer , your given a cold shoulder as if you are the beggar. The funny thing is if you repeat this offer to another beggar in the same city in a short interval of time , all other beggars stay clear of you.

NICE TIP NA!!!

REFLECTION - ||

Last year when i went to Pune and drove over the express highway from Pune to Mahabaleshwar/Lonavla Region i was zapped by the super luxury of travelling at very high speeds with minimum jerking. I was almost transported to Europe or America where such roads are quite common . I learned that this road was developed  by some South East Asian Road Construction Company who can construct such high quality roads the miminum possible time working around the clock. They took toll tax from the commuters in order to make up for their expenses .

Its high time such quality roads are developed in the entire Chhattisgarh Region for it is crucial for the development of any state . People pay toll tax quite readily when they get the proper services for roads and security on roads .

BUT everything depends upon cooperation between Central and State governments as well as the determination of the local adminstration to put aside their selfish Interests and get the task done for the general good of society. As long as the mentality for corruption lasts in people wide ranging changes will always be a dream.

AMEN!!!!

A REFLECTION

My heart felt CONDOLENCES for JHALAK'S parents and family. Friends you recall  that i had return about her unfortunate accident by truck hit in the NO ENTRY area of CMD CHOUK , Bilaspur. Today she is no more among us but yet it's a reminder of the sad state of Traffic and roads in the city of Bilaspur.

This incident got me thinking about what must be the root of the problem??

The fact is Bilaspur city coaching centres for providing AIEEE/AIPMT/IIT (Science based all INDIA entrance exams) are simply a sham . Thousands of students of junior college (of 11th and 12th) go hither thither in search of the best coaching in subjects like Physics,Chemistry and Maths. After wasting 2 precious years of their lives studying in these coaching classses  and with dreams in their eyes of a brilliant future, they are brought down with a bang on the Earth after the exams . With a shock they realise that the level of coaching required and the topics that should be covered and in the depth in which they should be covered is sadly missing.

Then they run on a last minute inspiration to Professional Coaching Centres in Delhi, Bhilai, Kota, etc. But by that time there major time period for these studies are over, their base is weak and the time for preparation is very limited .
Hence only a handful of students are really able to make it to the NITs, IITs, CENTRAL Technical Institutes and all india MEDICAL colleges.

U CAN JUST IMAGINE THE AMOUNT OF YOUNG TALENT GOING WASTE IN BILASPUR JUST BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF PROPER MATERIAL FOR STUDIES AND AT THE RIGHT TIME OF THEIR STUDYING PERIOD.

And to add to all this when these students have to travel to 3 separate tutions at 3 separate times  through the mad traffic with awful roads and with no proper traffic rules and regulations , incidences like JHALAK'S is the order of the day.  These incidences are so common in the city that we dont even bat a eye lid when we here about one.

I dont know who is to blame  but certainly we youngsters and the future of tommorow have a lot of cleaning up to do in society and in the administration of the city so that it can be a place with security of life for us and for our future generations.

THE FIRST RETURN

HI friends of GGU.i am sure u must be very fresh from your holidays and all set for another hectic term at the university. BUT i doubt whether the coming year will be so full of events as the previous one.! But i wonder how will be the new batch of B.Tech in GGU?? will they be more mischievious than us ?

but i am sorry for those friends who have to vacate the hostel. but there's nothing to worry much because Bilaspur has more or less all the facilities to stay here comfortably in PG's.

SO WELCOME BACK FRIENDS. :)

HISTORY REPEATS

09/07/2011
My prayers are for JHALAK, this school girl who was smashed by a truck in the CMD Chouk area on friday, 08/07/2011. It made my memory fresh of those days during after 1st sem of my B.Tech engineering in CENTRAL University GGU,when students from our university had these fatal accidents on thr roads of koni area due to heavy truck traffic.
The CMD Chouk area is supposed to be a no entry area for trucks and yet this girl met with an accident damaging her backbones and ribs and is fighting a battle with death.
GOD knows when we can organise our city and make it fit for living in!!
We students had attempted to make a dent in the system by organising strikes, road blocks. The city administration went to the extent of putting down our protest with a LATHI CHARGE. But even after months this problem for road safety for youngsters of Bilaspur remailns a burning issue,as is proved by the JHALAK incident who was her on her way home from the coaching classes.
Its our current generation who has tremendous power to put things right in society by silently doing our bit.
WISH U ALL THE BEST to do something to make the system right.

The Bikini Incident

Two days back at the swimming pool during ladies hour a Russian school girl came with her mom for a swim. I was very amused to see how school girls crowded around her with curiosity, right from the time she entered the pool and even in the bathroom .She was wearing a two piece bikini , well built and extremely fair with light colour hair and light colour eyes. What made me laugh was that even girls were so fascinated with an another girl just because she was in a bikini. She spoke slight English. They managed to extract from her that she was a Russian on a one week visit to bsp and everyone was trying to be her friend .
It was a veritable fish market with all girls vying for a her attention at the same time . They were inviting her to be there friend on face book.
I was touched by the simple innocence of us Indians when they see something new and want to extend our hospitality as far as possible.
THATS ANOTHER INDIA!

PRESENT INDIA – Real INDIA

Its no use gloating on how INDIA is on its way to becoming a Super Power. The youth population of today though well qualified is not able to ascertain the right priorities in life. Most of them capable of doing great things wastes there resources on useless and harmful pursuits like indulging in alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, energy drinks and adapting western lifestyle and thus letting there immense potential and energies go waste in hanging around aimlessly.
Youth’s level of National feeling should be high, getting involved with once surroundings and caring for city and society should be part of their routine. On an individual level they can take up areas like sports and make a name for the country. The general environment in the country is very depressing what with criminalization of politics, rampant corruptoin , exam paper leaks ,  failure of standard national institutes , etc.
To top up all this there is a National drive to do away with English language which is currently the working language of professionals in India. As against this China is developing an army of white collared youth who are having execellennt english base. On all fronts we Indians should improvise like the Chinese – inproving communications within the country by building bridges, sealinks , roads, railways, connecting every part of India with the tiniest of villages.creating world class educational institions  where merit is the only criteria for selection as staff or student.Corruption is like a cancer to the country and unless dealt with strongly we as a nation may fall behind others just because we did not put our home right.
After all CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.

NECESSARY CONTRIBUTING FACTOR FOR INDIA TO BECOME A SUPER POWER

A lot of efforts is being made by the various institutions, students, etc.to make India a super power by contributing in different fields but there is one major element still needs to be incorporated and that is THE YOUTH mastering in English language. The youngsters should go through the various good novels written by Issac Asimov, Saki, Walter De La Mare, Frost, etc and improve the knowledge by looking meanings of the hard words and understanding well. It is said u cant face a person unless u are very good in her/his language.

Keeping Urself Busy

I think we should keep doing things in the whole day which leads us to a healthy, informative, direction so that we don’t get bored and face distractions . For example : we can join various sport classes like, basketball , tennis , read novels and improve english etc.
I just want to say that we should do the right stuff  and have clean fun.
:)
